In 1971 a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a plane, collected a ransom and jumped into the night. He has never been identified. What remains is paper: decades of FBI files, press coverage and theory.
Subject: D.B. Cooper gathers that paper into a single investigation. Articles and unredacted documents, sourced from The Black Vault online archive, are set in the visual language they came from, the newspaper and the dossier.

Two decisions carry the book. Bright highlighting runs through the pages as a kind of anti-redaction, the opposite of a black bar: instead of hiding information, it points to it, tracing a path through the key evidence.

And anything later shown to be false is printed on solid black, so record and speculation can be told apart at a glance. The line between the two is thinner than it looks, and the book lets that show.
